The grant proposal titled “Equitable Statistics Education through Active Learning” led by team facilitators, Maduranga Dassanayake and Abhyuday Mandal, and the STAT 2000 Coordinator, Nick Toebben, has been awarded the inaugural Active Learning Change Grants from UGA. This award is especially noteworthy since only one active learning change grant was funded!

The project will provide more effective learning experiences for students in all large-lecture formats of STAT 2000 via increased active participation in the learning process and increased prompt feedback on student learning. Changes to the course will be made by the team members through a backward design approach to course design, which will align course learning objectives, assessments, and instructional strategies with a focus on the skills students will need in their future endeavors.

Congratulations to Drs. Dassanayake, Mandal and Toebben!
