Dr. Wenxuan Zhong named as the UGA Athletic Association Professor in Statistics

The Department of Statistics is proud to announce that the UGA and the Board of Regents recently approved that Dr. Wenxuan Zhong will be named as the UGA Athletic Association Professor in Statistics. This appointment brings the Dr Zhong the new title of the University of Georgia Athletic Association Professor in Statistics. This new title is a testament to Dr. Zhong's outstanding achievements and her commitment to advancing statistical knowledge.

 Dr. Zhong, whose interests include computational biology, bioinformatics and variable selection, graduated with a B.S. in statistics from Nankai University (China) and a Ph.D in statistics from Purdue University. She then worked as a postdoc fellow in Professor Jun Liu’s Lab in statistics department and FAS center of systems biology in Harvard University. She joined the UGA Department of Statistics in 2013, and has now achieved this highly prodigious position.
