Rosenthal is a Professor of Statistics at the University of Toronto and a leading expert in probability theory and Markov chain Monte Carlo methods. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and a recipient of the COPSS Presidents’ Award, one of the highest honors in the statistical sciences. His other awards include the CRM–SSC Prize and the SSC Gold Medal.
